The Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) in prepation for the 10th Meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee on Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) Development Triangle Area convened in the Lao province of Champasak on December 10.
Delegates reviewed the outcomes of the eighth CLV Summit held in November 2014 in Vientiane, Laos and discussed orientations to be submitted to the 10th Meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee on the CLV Development Triangle Area in order to foster the area’s development.
They also highly valued the outcomes of the eighth Meeting of the Economic Subcommittee, the eighth Meeting of the Security and Foreign Affairs Subcommittee, the sixth Meeting of the Social and Environmental Subcommittee and the seventh Meeting of the Provincial Coordination Sub-Committee.
They agreed to encourage meetings between ministries, agencies and provincial authorities of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam to ratchet up all-sided cooperation, mobilise technical and financial assistance from the private sector and development partners for the region’s growth, and draw investment into the region.
They raised challenges facing the CLV, including the implementation of prioritised projects, the construction of infrastructure and the improvement of the quality of human resources in heralding the ASEAN Economic Community later this year.
The 10th Meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee on Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) Development Triangle Area will take place on December 12.
The CLV Development Triangle Area covers four Cambodian provinces (Ratanakiri, Stung Treng, Mondulkiri, Kratie), four Lao provinces (Attapeu, Salavan, Sekong, Champasak), and five Vietnamese provinces (Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Binh Phuoc).
