Cuban scholar highlights Vietnamese Party’s leadership

VOV.VN - The election of President To Lam as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee reflects the recognition of his contributions and reputation, while also affirming the Party leadership, said a Cuban scholar.

During a recent media interview, Dr. Ruvislei González Saez, vice president of the Cuba - Vietnam Friendship Association, said the new General Secretary’s views on external relations reflect the continuity of the nation’s foreign policy, which identifies the most important factors to bilateral relations whilst underlining the need to promote multilateral diplomacy.

This approach is not in contrast to the country’s principle of befriending all nations and its "four no's" policy. The continuation of this policy will therefore serve to consolidate international confidence on the natural transition and transfer of power, which determines Vietnamese political stability, he said, calling it a very important factor to maintaining country's image and business environment.

Regarding corruption, which is seen as a threat to the Vietnamese Party and revolution, Ruvislei stated that General Secretary Lam’s determination to maintain the fight against the evil reflects the importance of transparency.

Pointing to several profound challenges caused by conflicts between powers and global uncertainties, with their impact felt in global values and economic growth, the scholar noted that with its transformation and stability, Vietnam will be able to lure significant investments. In line with this, the country has adequate conditions to complete its targets as it moves towards new development stages.

Ruvislei also outlined his belief that Vietnam will become an upper-middle-income nation and one of the major economies in Southeast Asia, even among the world’s top 20 by 2035 or sooner.
