Canadian PM Justin Trudeau leaves HCM City for Da Nang city
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on November 10 morning left Ho Chi Minh City for central Da Nang city where he will attend activities within the ongoing APEC Economic Leaders’ Week.
The PM said he was impressed by strong and dynamic development of the Vietnamese southern metropolis, especially in trade and investment activities.
On the basis of the newly-established comprehensive partnership between Canada and Vietnam, Canadian and Vietnamese localities, particularly HCM City, have many opportunities to enhance collaboration in trade, investment, education and people-to-people exchange, bringing pragmatic interests to people of the two countries, for peace and development of the region and the world.
For his part, Phong noted with pleasure active developments in relations between Vietnam and Canada over the past time, especially cooperation in trade, investment and education.
Vietnamese people always keep in mind Canada’s valuable support to Vietnam during the country’s struggle for national independence as well as the present cause of reform, international integration and national development, the official said.
He stressed that HCM City has established cooperative and friendly ties with 47 localities worldwide, including Toronto of Canada.
HCM City wishes to join hands with Canada to boost cooperation and friendship in delegation exchange and economy, trade, urban management and education, Phong said.
Earlier on November 9, PM Trudeau visited the HCM Stock Exchange, where he rang a gong to get the afternoon session started and held a roundtable with business leaders.
He also had a talk with students of HCM City-based Ton Duc Thang University.
Canada ranked 21st among 92 countries and territories investing in HCM City, with 67 projects worth more than US$110 million. Notable programmes included the Canada International School system and the Vietnam Airlines Training Centre, where Canada’s CAE Inc. will provide training services for pilots of Vietnam.
PM Justin Trudeau paid an official visit to Vietnam from November 8-9.
