Cambodia keen to strengthen all-around ties with Vietnam

VOV.VN - Cambodian Government and competent agencies will strive to reinforce the ties of comprehensive co-operation with Vietnam, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has said.

His statement was made at a reception held on October 11 in Phnom Penh for Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang who came to greet Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia for the seventh term (VII) Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.

At the meeting, Ambassador Tang congratulated PM Hun Manet on being elected as Prime Minister by the seventh Cambodian National Assembly and wished him great success in this noble task.

The Vietnamese diplomat went on to express his admiration for the tremendous achievements recorded in domestic and foreign affairs that the Cambodian people have seen under the clear-sighted leadership of the King and Government of Cambodia. This includes successful COVID-19 prevention and control efforts, thereby contributing to socio-economic recovery and development.

He also appreciated and congratulated Cambodia on completing the responsibilities of ASEAN Chairmanship-2022, being chairman of AIPA 43, successfully organizing the fifth term of Commune/Sangkat Elections, holding the seventh National Assembly election, and hosting both SEA Games 32 and the ASEAN Para Games 12. All of these efforts have made an important contribution to boosting Cambodian prestige and their position in the region and in the international arena.

In response, PM Hun Manet hailed Vietnamese development achievements and emphasized the significance of the mutual support between the two countries, as well as the three countries of Cambodia - Laos – Vietnam, in the cause of national construction and development.

He expressed his delight at seeing the traditional friendly relationship and comprehensive and long-term sustainable ties between the two countries being continuously strengthened and developed through maintaining the regular exchange of high-level visits. Other efforts include promoting existing co-operation mechanisms and creating further links in relations between ministries, sectors, and localities.

The Cambodian PM also rejoiced over positive changes made in bilateral economic and trade collaboration.

He suggested that the two sides continue to bring into full play the achievements they have obtained in a bid to boost closer ties and further expand co-operation in a multitude of fields. This should be done whilst properly implementing the contents agreed upon by the two sides to make practical contribution to consolidating and improving the effectiveness of bilateral ties.
