Brazil asked to facilitate Vietnam’s farm produce exports

He also hailed the positive developments of the comprehensive partnership between the two nations over the past three decades and suggested augmenting cooperation in trade, investment and agriculture while affirming that Vietnam greatly values the relationship with Brazil.

He urged the two countries to intensify delegation exchange, promote trade and investment and early hold the third meeting of their joint committee to build specific programmes and projects for bilateral cooperation in the time to come.

The Vietnamese government leader also incentivized the two countries’ businesses to set up partnership in fields of potential and mutual strength and assured Vietnam’s willingness to act as a bridge for ASEAN and Mercosur.

He underlined the need for both sides work together on studying the possibility of starting negotiations on a Vietnam-Mercosur trade agreement and proposed bolstering
cooperation in defence and education. 

PM Phuc used the occasion to thank Brazil for supporting Vietnam’s bid for a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 tenure.

In reply, the Brazilian minister said Brazil attributes importance to ties with Vietnam, and her current visit is designed to boost cooperation with Vietnam, especially in agriculture, a field in which both countries have huge potential for further development.  

She expressed her nation’s desire to export its key products to Vietnam, including farm products such as beef, adding that the presence of representatives from some 20 Brazilian firms in her delegation this time demonstrates the attention that Brazilian businesses pay to Vietnam. 

Brazil is Vietnam’s biggest Latin American trade partners and the second biggest in America, just behind the US.
