Australia-Vietnam consultation on development cooperation
VOV.VN - The Australia- Vietnam high-level Consultations on Development Cooperation took place on March 31 in Canberra discussing results of their long-term development co-operation.
At the event, the two sides examined ways to upgrade the Australia-Vietnam Development Cooperation Program to an Economic Partnership.
The economic partnership is expected to be built on the principles of commitment to pursuing shared economic interests as outlined in the Plan of Action 2016-2019, encouraging a dynamic private sector, promoting greater business and market access opportunities, empowering women in the economy and promoting environmentally sustainable growth.
They agreed to expand cooperation on the basis of ensuring mutual economic benefit, promote the dynamic development of the private sector, create opportunities to expand business and markets, empower women’s role in economics, and boost the environmentally friendly, sustainable growth.
Both sides also discussed the upgrading of the current Deputy Ministerial Consultation Conference on Development Cooperation to the Ministerial level.
The biennial High Level Consultations were led by Philip Green, First Assistant Secretary, South East Asia Mainland and Regional Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Australia), and Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen The Phuong.
