August Revolution, People's Public Security’s 80th anniversary marked in Beijing

The Vietnamese Embassy in China, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Security’s Representative Office, has held a ceremony in Beijing to commemorate the 80th anniversaries of the August Revolution, the People’s Public Security force (August 19, 1945–2025), and the founding of Vietnam’s diplomatic sector (August 28, 1945–2025).

In his remarks, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh emphasised the historical significance of the August Revolution and acknowledged the vital contributions of the People’s Public Security force and diplomatic corps over the past eight decades. These efforts, he noted, have safeguarded national independence and sovereignty, driven socio-economic development, and built a peaceful, stable environment for Vietnam’s global integration and growing international stature.

The diplomat mentioned Party General Secretary To Lam's recent article commemorating the People's Public Security force’s 80th anniversary, saying it outlined four foundational pillars of the force’s strength - the Communist Party of Vietnam’s absolute leadership; strong public ties; close coordination with the People’s Army and state agencies; and international solidarity and cooperation.

He highlighted that Vietnam’s peaceful, stable and secure environment, both internally and externally, stems from the sacrifice and contributions of many forces and sectors, particularly public security and diplomacy. These efforts have enabled past achievements and paved the way for Vietnam to enter a new era of growth and prosperity.

Looking forward, Ambassador Binh affirmed the embassy’s commitment to following Vietnam’s revolutionary diplomatic tradition, guided by President Ho Chi Minh’s philosophy. He pledged close coordination with all attached agencies, including the Ministry of Public Security office, to advance key foreign service mandates, spanning political, economic, cultural, and public diplomacy; citizen protection; and territorial matters. These goals align with the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and Vietnam’s broader development vision.

On the occasion, the ambassador also extended congratulations on the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam News Agency (September 15, 1945–2025).

Counsellor Do Manh Ha, deputy head of the Ministry of Public Security’s Representative Office in China, reviewed the proud legacy of the People’s Public Security force and honoured generations of officers who served the nation. He reaffirmed the force’s dedication to President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings and its guiding spirit of “sacrificing life for the nation, serving the people.”

He also noted close cooperation between the Public Security force and Vietnam’s diplomatic missions abroad, particularly the Vietnamese Embassy in China, especially in citizen protection, combating transnational crime, and ensuring the security of high-level delegations. Ha affirmed the force’s ongoing role as a trusted shield for Vietnamese nationals overseas and a contributor to regional peace and security, and Vietnam’s global reputation.

To mark the event, the embassy and Ministry of Public Security’s Representative Office also co-organised friendly competitions in pickleball, table tennis, and other sports.
