The Party leader made the statement while chairing a working session at the Party Central Committee headquarters on the morning of March 2 with the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs and relevant agencies.

The meeting reviewed and gave opinions on a draft project summarizing 20 years of implementing the 10th-tenure Party Central Committee’s Resolution 3 on strengthening the Party’s leadership over anti-corruption and wastefulness work.

The draft will be submitted to the Party Central Committee for consideration and issuance of a new resolution on combating corruption, wastefulness and negative practices in the new period.

Speaking at the working session, Party General Secretary To Lam acknowledged and hailed the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs for its efforts and expeditious work, as well as its close coordination with relevant agencies in studying and drafting the project in a thorough, serious and methodical manner. The draft incorporates many new elements, viewpoints and comprehensive, breakthrough solutions closely aligned with practical realities, meeting the requirements of preventing and combating corruption, wastefulness and negative practices in the new period.

He asked the commission to continue studying and fully absorbing opinions expressed at the meeting, and to promptly finalize the project to ensure the highest quality before submitting it to the Politburo and the Party Central Committee for consideration and decision in accordance with regulations.

The Party leader stressed that preventing and combating corruption, wastefulness and negative practices is an especially important, regular and long-term task in Party building and rectification and in building the political system. Resolutely and persistently fighting to prevent and push back corruption, wastefulness and negative practices is a consistent and sustained policy and line of the Party and the State.

The issuance of a resolution on strengthening the Party’s leadership over the prevention and combat of corruption, wastefulness and negative practices at the second plenum of the 14th Party Central Committee affirms the Party’s special attention to this work and serves as a declaration of its continued resolve to intensify the fight against “internal invaders” in the coming period with new thinking and new approaches.

He underscored that the fight must be both resolute and persistent; cases must be handled strictly, humanely and convincingly, with no prohibited zones and no exceptions. It is necessary to exercise control over key and critical sectors, as well as new areas with high risks of corruption, wastefulness and negative practices.

At the same time, this work must go hand in hand with socio-economic development tasks, serving the goal of maintaining continuous double-digit economic growth in the coming years; creating a transparent environment and ensuring a safe legal framework so that people and businesses can confidently invest, produce and operate, and so that officials and Party members can boldly innovate, be creative, and dare to think and act for the common good; ensuring that the interests of the State are harmonized with the lawful and legitimate interests of businesses and citizens; focusing on removing obstacles to unlock resources for development; and contributing to building a culture within the Party and the political system as well as further perfecting Vietnamese culture in the new period.
