Ambassador pins high hope on Vietnamese PM’s visit to Algeria

The official visit to Algeria from November 18-20 by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will open up new cooperation agreements, contribute to completing the legal framework, and facilitate bilateral exchanges and collaboration in trade, culture, and education, Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Tran Quoc Khanh told the host country’s media.

In an interview granted to the Algeria Press Service (APS), El Moudjahid newspaper, and Essalam TV‎ ahead of the trip, he emphasised that it holds historic significance, marking the highest-level visit to Algeria by a Vietnamese leader in the past 10 years, following the one by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in 2015.

Khanh said that the traditional friendship between the two countries has been forged through periods of revolutionary struggle and nurtured by generations of leaders on both sides. This historical and cultural foundation, along with the similarities in their stance, serves as an important basis for them to further elevate their relationship and strengthen cooperation for mutual benefit.

The diplomat also provided updates on bilateral cooperation in political and economic fields, and shared several orientations aimed at promoting bilateral trade, culture, and tourism.

In addition, he answered questions regarding challenges in trade, investment, and cultural exchange, especially in the context of the absence of a direct air route between Vietnam and Algeria, and proposed several solutions to help address these difficulties.
