PM Chinh departs for Kuwait, Algeria and attendance at G20 Summit in South Africa
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, accompanied by his spouse and a high-level Vietnamese delegation, left Hanoi on November 16 for official visits to Kuwait and Algeria, and attendance at the G20 Summit alongside bilateral activities in South Africa.
The trip, from November 16-24, is made at the invitations of PM Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al Sabah of Kuwait, PM Sifi Ghrieb of Algeria, and President of South Africa and G20 Chair for 2025 Cyril Ramaphosa.
Vietnam has been invited to the G20 Summit six times and has taken part in several cooperation initiatives within the G20 framework, thereby contributing to joint efforts to tackle global challenges.
The fact that the nation continues to be invited to the G20 Summit in 2024 in Brazil and in 2025 in South Africa, even without holding the chairmanship or host roles of multilateral mechanisms, reflects the international community’s growing recognition of Vietnam’s positive contributions at globally influential forums such as the G20.
Vietnam maintains friendly and sound cooperative relations with South Africa, Kuwait and Algeria. South Africa is Vietnam’s first partner for cooperation and development in Africa, a level equivalent to a comprehensive partnership. Kuwait was the first Gulf Cooperation Council member to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam, on January 10, 1976. Algeria is Vietnam’s most longstanding and deeply rooted traditional friend in Africa, having wholeheartedly supported Vietnam in its national reconstruction.
Vietnam and the three countries -South Africa, Kuwait and Algeria-actively coordinate and support one another at multilateral forums, maintain sound cooperative ties in defense, security, agriculture and biodiversity conservation, and regularly exchange bilateral delegations across various channels and levels.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held separate meetings with leaders from Spain, Paraguay, Canada, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Vatican, and the World Health Organisation (WHO) on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Brazil, on November 19 (local time).
