A pivotal milestone in legislative reform and state apparatus streamlining

VOV.VN - After 6.5 days of serious, democratic, and highly responsible discussions, the 9th extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly (NA) concluded on February 19, having fulfilled its planned agenda.

Grounded in the Party’s resolutions and policies, with extensive debates and a commitment to translating them into law, the NA reviewed and passed four key legislative documents at this session. These include amendments to the Law on the Organization of the Government, the Law on the Organization of Local Government, the Law on the Organization of the National Assembly, and the Law on Promulgation of Legal Documents.

Lawmakers also adopted a resolution dealing with issues related to restructuring the state apparatus, along with four resolutions facilitating the reorganization of the NA and Government for the 15th tenure.

Additionally, six resolutions were approved to drive national socio-economic progress and introduce special mechanisms for strategic projects and major infrastructure initiatives.

This session marks a pivotal milestone in legislative reform, laying the groundwork for an efficient and streamlined state apparatus. It also resolves institutional bottlenecks, fosters breakthroughs in infrastructure development, optimizes resource allocation, and opens new avenues for national and local growth.

In parallel, personnel decisions were made in strict adherence to Party regulations and state laws, achieving broad consensus among NA deputies.

The NA elected two additional Vice Chairpersons, endorsed the Prime Minister’s nominations for two Deputy Prime Ministers for the 2021–2026 term, and appointed six new members to the NA Standing Committee. It also ratified the appointments of four ministers and approved the reassignment of certain ministers and NA Standing Committee members to new positions.

In his closing speech, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man commended the deputies’ commitment, their in-depth discussions, and their decisive handling of complex issues. Despite time constraints and the need for consistency and practicality, NA members demonstrated strong determination, offering valuable insights both in theory and practice.

The NA acknowledged the close coordination among the Government, the Prime Minister, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, judicial bodies, Party organizations, NA agencies, and other relevant agencies. It also extended appreciation to ministries, central agencies, Hanoi authorities, and localities for their support in ensuring the session’s success.

Affirming the achievements of the session, the top legislator called on all agencies and localities to swiftly carry out the adopted resolutions with a proactive, results-driven approach.

"The NA firmly believes that under the Party’s leadership, with the combined efforts of the political system, all levels of government, and the united determination of the entire Party, people, armed forces, business community, and overseas Vietnamese, our country will overcome challenges and achieve the targets set for 2025 and beyond, meeting the expectations of voters and citizens at home and abroad," Man emphasized.
