Ha Giang’s stunning terraced rice fields

Lying some 110 kilometres west of Ha Giang Town, Hoang Su Phi's terraced rice fields raised by the silt from the Chay River, and are regarded as the most beautiful in the area thanks to the special terrain and fertile soil.

The rice fields built into the hillsides look like great chains or ribbons with different colours depending on the season.

Between April and June when local farmers take in water to prepare for planting a new crop, the area becomes busy with visitors coming to watch the breath-taking sights and learn about farmers' activities.

These fields belong to the farmers from the Red Dao and Nung ethnic groups who are making good lives from both farming and tourism.
