9 of Vietnam’s most famous lighthouses
(VOV) - Few buildings capture the attention of tourists quite like lighthouses. Here are nine iconic landmarks from the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago located in the East Vietnam Sea near Khanh Hoa Province.
The dark grey cylindrical towered lighthouse on An Bang island, launched in 1995, has a height of 24.9 metres and casts its beacon of light out over the waters of the East Sea every 10 seconds, helping nearby boats safely navigate the waters. |
The 42 metre high Da Lat lighthouse is located to the west of the Spratly Islands and has since 1994 been sending afar out to sea streams of alternatively red and white signals every five seconds. |
Da Tay lighthouse is located on Truong Sa (Spartly) Archipelago, which blazes its signal of light out across the sky twice every 10 seconds. |
Built in 2013, the 24.9 metres high Nam Yet lighthouse lights up the waters of the East Sea twice every 15 seconds guiding vessels operating in the waters off the coast of Khanh Hoa Province. |
The yellow squared Sinh Ton lighthouse stands out from the rest sending out its blinking light signals across the East Sea from atop its 24.9 metres high fuselage ever since 2012. |
The towering 28 metre yellow-and-red Son Ca lighthouse with its magnificent cylindrical shape was inaugurated in 2009. |
The distinctive dark grey fuselage makes the Song Tu Tay lighthouse stand out from the rest and is located one of the six largest of the Spratly Islands. Built in 1993, it stands 36 metres tall, sending out beams of light twice every 15 seconds. |
The Tien Nu lighthouse, measuring 22.1 metres from top to bottom, launched in 2000 and has become famous for its signature lemon-yellow blast of light it sends shooting over the waters every 10 seconds. |
