The pastoral solitude of Ba Be Lake in spring

Arriving at Ba Be Lake this time of the year, visitors can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and romantic natural scenery as it is not yet a peak time for tourism. |

Local people call it “Slam Pe”, meaning three lakes as it is the confluence of three tributary systems of the Pe Lam, Pe Lu, and Pe Leng rivers. |

The lake is situated at an altitude of 150m above sea level and is surrounded by limestone mountains and lush primeval forests. |

Ba Be Lake stretches for nearly 9km and its shores are home to a host of diverse flora. |

Following the implementation of the Greater Mekong Sub-region sustainable tourism development project to support tourism development in five provinces of Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue, there has been a boom in visitors travelling to Ba Be Lake. |

The number of tourists arriving to Ba Be has increased year by year. |

The lake provides a livelihood to some and each year local people can catch around 15 tons of fish on Ba Be Lake. |
