Tam Chuc pagoda gears up for UN Day of Vesak
VOV.VN - Preparations are well underway to prepare Tam Chuc pagoda in Kim Bang district in the northern province of Ha Nam for the United Nations Day of Vesak 2019, which will take place between May 12 and May 15.

| Covering a total area of 5,100 hectares, the pagoda complex consists of nearly 1,000 hectares of lakes, as well as 3,000 hectares of mountains and natural forests. The main body of construction is close to completion. The event is expected to welcome over 1,500 international delegates. |

| The International Conference Centre, 31 m high, is built on the surface of the lake. |

Covering an area of over 2,000 square metres, the centre is able to accommodate 2,600 guests. |

| Shrines and pagodas throughout Tam Chuc pagoda complex are decorated with 12,000 murals depicting the legends of Buddha. The murals have been carved into volcanic rock by Indonesian artisans. |

| Ngoc (Jade) pagoda is located on That Tinh mountain peak which stands at 460 metres above sea level and has 299 stairs leading up it. It is made entirely from red granite and weighs more than 2,000 tons. In total, 200 Indian artisans are involved in designing it. |
