Remembering National Day September 2, 1945
VOV.VN - Seventy-one years ago this September 2, President Ho Chi Minh stood at Ba Dinh Square and poignantly proclaimed the independence of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
The first lines of his speech paraphrased the famous second paragraph of America’s 1776 Declaration of Independence. |
“All men are created equal. They are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, among them are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness." |
In its broadest sense, this means: All the peoples on the earth are equal from birth, all the peoples have a right to live, to be happy and free. |
His speech declaring independence from France ushers in a new historical period. |
It is cheered by an enormous crowd gathered in Ba Dinh Square. |

The plan is for the speech to be broadcast to the entire independence movement in the northern and southern parts of the country, but for technical reasons it could not broadcast in the south. |
