(VOV) - Da Lat City in the late 19th and early 20th century comes to life in a novel and creative way at the Sao Da Lat tourism site where the streets are lined with sculptures carved in red basaltic clay.
The Sao Da Lat tourism site is located, 10km north of central Da Lat City and spans a total area of approximately 90 square metres. |
A villa at the tourism site was the creation of the owner of the resort Trinh Ba Dung. The home is made of basalt clay soil, a common material found in the Central Highlands. |
It took many trials for Trinh Ba Dung and his colleagues to find the magic formula to produce the clay bricks that were durable enough for the project. |
Most notably, the material retains its characteristic red colour of the land and has sufficient strength to withstand the effects of the rain, sun and other natural elements. |
The villa from the inside out, from foundation to roof is designed with red soil materials. The interior furnishings are also made from the soil. |
