In photos: Saigon underground market

VOV.VN - In District 1, away from all the upscale restaurants and swanky bars of the financial and entertainment districts is the first underground market of Saigon, where authentic Vietnamese food is crafted and enjoyed daily.

Sense Market is located at the centre of District 1, B Park 23/9 and below Sen Hong Stage. The market opened January 7.

The entry road to the Sense Market is lush with green vegetation bordering it.  It is just a short 10-minute walk to the popular Ben Thanh Market.

Sense Market has a unique and modern architecture, nestled beneath the bustling city centre.

The Sense Market has a total area of 11,000 square metres including 6,000 square metres of  parking.

Marco Gennari, just opened a restaurant at the market.

He says he spent three years working at an eatery in Singapore before opening his own café at the market.

An Australian family says the food is delicious, the seating comfortable and they are really excited about the air conditioning, which helps beat the heat of Saigon shopping.

The atmosphere at a beverage shop at the market is very vibrant, almost joyous everyday says an employee.

Restaurants are stylishly decorated in traditional Oriental style, modern and well-equipped.

The Market has a convenience store, telecommunications service counters, currency converter and good shopping that attracts many foreigners.

Sense Market is located next to Asiana Food Town Shopping Plaza with its more than 400 novelty stores offering items such as clothing, souvenirs, shoes and handbags.

A shopper says she often buys clothes here because they are beautiful and affordable.
