Emergence of colourful flowers in Hanoi marks arrival of summer

VOV.VN - In May residents of Hanoi are able to enjoy the bright purple tones of Bang Lang and a sea of yellow from the blossoming of Muong Hoang Yen.

Parts of Hanoi have been transformed with a purple colour after the emergence of giant crape myrtles, known locally as Bang Lang.

The elegant flower is widely considered to be a symbol of the capital, with locals believing that their emergence signals the arrival of summer.

The crape myrtles on the crossroads of Hung Vuong and Phan Dinh Phung streets are a wonderful sight for commuters to take in.

Alongside Bang Lang, glimpsing Muong Hoang Yen throughout Hanoi gives residents a summer feeling, with the streets appearing feel far more romantic.

A sea of yellow descends on streets throughout Ho Tay (West Lake) in recent days as a result of the emergence of a sea of colourful Muong Hoang Yen.

Plenty of Muong Hoang Yen, also known as golden shower trees, can be seen entering their blooming period on the streets around the capital, with their vibrant yellow colour noticeable to the people of Hanoi.

Between May and July each year is usually the best time to spot Hoa Phuong Do, also known as the red flamboyant flower, in full bloom.

At present, Hanoi can be seen covered with the pink and white blossoms of lotus flowers.

The white lotus flowers feature thick petals and have an alluring scent which can be enjoyed around some of the ponds in Ho Tay.
