Check out the biggest pumpkins in Vietnam

VOV.VN - Giant pumpkins weighing between 50 and 100 kilos from seeds grown in the US are a common sight on the family farm of Le Huu Phan in Da Lat in the central highland province of Lam Dong.

Farmer Le Huu Phan, 52, from Da Lat poses alongside four of his giant pumpkins.

The largest of his giant pumpkins, like the two on the left, weigh nearly 100 kilos.

This giant pumpkin has a thinner shell and a more natural orange colour compared to ones grown from local seed.

A farmhand cares for a pumpkin carefully turning it daily to promote balanced growth. The pumpkins grown from US seed also have a sweeter taste when cooked says the farmhand.

Photo of a typical pumpkin bloom next to a motorbike key provides a good indication of just how large the blooms are.

A young man wraps his arms around a pumpkin so large he can’t lift it by himself. Phan says he sells the pumpkins for US$90 (VND2 million) each.

A young couple are amazed by the size of the pumpkins in the garden. Phan also says it requires following a lot of care and strict procedures to grow pumpkins this large.

Two young children enjoy the huge pumpkins in Phan’s garden. Phan says he will try to grow pumpkins weighing from 150 to 200 kilos in the time ahead.
