Themed ‘For a Stronger Southeast Asia’, the opening programme consists of three chapters: A Friendly Vietnam, A Strong Southeast Asia, and Southeast Asia to Shine.
The programme starts with a parade of participating sport delegations of Southeast Asian nations…..
….and the raising of the flags of Vietnam, the Southeast Asia Games Federation, and the 31st SEA Games.
Then comes a special art show demonstrating the message of the games “For a Strong Southeast Asia” choreographed by Tran Ly Ly.
The art programme is considered to be an important cultural highlight that introduces the image of Vietnam - a friendly and hospitable nation, and of a united and strong Southeast Asia that is ready to shine.
The opening ceremony will include many grand stages, using traditional symbolic images such as bamboo, rice, lotus or conical hat which promise to entertain spectators with interesting stories.
“About 600 dancers and 250 athletes from sports and art schools have been mobilized to take part in the art programme,” says choreographer Tran Ly Ly.
“We have used a variety of presentation and performance technologies such as Mapping, Augmented Reality, Extended Reality, Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality to ensure the best visual effects for 20,000 people watching live at My Dinh Stadium and tens of millions of TV viewers,” says the choreographer.
The opening ceremony of the 31st SEA Games is scheduled to take place at 8pm on May 12, and will be broadcast live on radio and television systems of Vietnam and other countries in Southeast Asia.
