VOV.VN - An exhibition aimed at introducing the traditional customs of ethnic groups of the Mekong Delta region during the Lunar New Year, known locally as Tet, got underway on December 19 in Can Tho.

Each ethnic group has typical customs which they don to welcome Tet. Their uniqueness helps to enhance the country’s cultural diversity.

Traditional cakes of the Kinh, Hoa, and Khmer ethnic groups are introduced to visitors. The cakes are made to worship their ancestors whilst also praying for a happy life as part of their special occasions.

More than 200 images, documents, and artifacts detailing the customs of celebrating Tet of the Kinh, Khmer, Hoa and Cham ethnic groups are showcased.

As Tet approaches, people from all parts of the country return home to take part in family reunions which is a long-standing tradition during the Lunar New Year, the biggest holiday of the year.

Items are prepared for Chol Chnam Thmay which is a New Year festival of the Khmer ethnic people according to their traditional calendar.
