Multimedia Photos Hanoi left deserted on National Day 2021 Friday, 23:22, 03/09/2021 VOV.VN - Unlike in previous years, this year’s National Day has seen major streets in Hanoi left deserted as the capital is implementing social distancing measures to halt the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. As of 2021 employees have two days off work to celebrate National Day (September 2), with one day falling on September 2 and the other falling on the day before or after September 2. With coming Saturday and Sunday, people will have four days off altogether. As social distancing measures remain in place in the capital, local residents are required to stay indoors, except in case of emergency, and therefore major streets are left deserted. Though the streets are quiet, they are dotted with national flags that have a yellow five-pointed star on a red background. The desertedness can be seen everywhere, from Le Thai To street surrounding around Hoan Kiem Lake… ...to the Hanoi Opera House. Major arteries which were normally crowded with heavy traffic on National Day in previous years now turn quiet. Hanoi has never been so peaceful and deserted as it is today. Rarely can a person be seen walking in a hurry on the street. Many Hanoians hang the national flag to celebrate National Day. A big national flag flies high at the top of the Hanoi Flag Tower. Hang Dao street, one of the busiest in the Old Quarter, looks peaceful on National Day. Many small streets have been locked down to prevent the virus spreading to the wider community. Policemen are patrolling to inspect and impose fines on law-breakers. Civil defence forces are also deployed to support on-duty officials at work. VOV Mời quý độc giả theo dõi VOV.VN trên
