Floods in central and Central Highlands regions leave 18 dead or missing

The death toll from the localised flooding in Phu Yen province climbs to five as of the morning of December 2, whilst five other local people are reported to be missing and approximately 3,000 houses have been left in floodwater nearly one-metre deep. A number of local roads have also been damaged, thereby causing difficulties for residents to travel around the area.

More than 7,000 people are evacuated to different areas for their own safety. They will eventually have to come back to clean their houses after the flooding.

Flooding causes severe disruption on national road 25 which connects Phu Yen and Dak Lak provinces.

Three people are found dead and two others are seriously injured on December 2. The administration of Binh Dinh province continues to work hard to provide necessities for people in areas isolated by the flooding.

Roughly 4,000 houses are left heavily submerged as over 1,600 hectares of crops are damaged, according to a report produced by provincial authorities.
