Multimedia Monday, 17:10, 11/04/2022 Lai Chau hosts exciting water splashing festival VOV.VN - Thousands of people attended a water splashing festival held on April 10 at Nam Lum Spring in Phong Tho district of the northern province of Lai Chau. The event is the largest of its kind in Vietnam and takes place within the framework of the Then Kin Pang festival, which represents a long-standing tradition of the white Thai people. Local residents and visitors enjoy the occasion as they throw and splash water at each other. A person who receives lots of water is thought to have bad luck washed off of them and have plenty of luck in their life. The purpose of the festival is to preserve and promote the cultural values of the Thai ethnic people in the northwestern region, whilst simultaneously strengthening solidarity among various ethnic groups. According to the event’s organising board, this year witnessed the water splashing festival attract a total of 5,000 participants. Ethnic people greatly enjoy participating in the occasion. VOV
