VOV.VN - Residents of Hoi An Ancient Town enjoyed the spectacle of more than 17 colourful hot-air balloons flying overhead on March 25, with the festival designed to promote the local tourism industry.

The first-ever hot air balloon festival is running from March 25 to March 26 and is part of a series of events aimed at welcoming the National Tourism Year 2022.

A total of 17 colourful hot air balloons featuring a variety of colours and sizes are put on display on the banks of the Hoai river.

The balloons are scheduled to rise between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m., and again between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on March 25, as well as between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. on March 26.

A large number of tourists flock to Hoi An in order to attend the festival.

Most notably, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on March 25, the “Night of flowers” programme will feature gas and flames being funneled into the balloons, serving to make them shine like giant lanterns.
