Thai products fair promote trade links with Vietnam

(VOV) - Thai businesses are showcasing a wide variety of high quality products at a trade fair being held in Hanoi from August 13-18.

Featured items include beverage, food, home utensils, clothing, jewelry cosmetics, health-care and beauty products, automobile components, decorative items, souvenirs, and electronic equipment.

Throughout the fair, there will be dance performances to help introduce Thai traditional culture to Vietnamese people.

Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Panyarak Poolthup said after 14 successful fairs in Hanoi, Thai businesses have realised the great potential of Vietnam. The 15th fair marks a new chapter in economic relations between the two countries with the hopes of reaching US$20 billion by 2020.

According to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai, total trade volume between between Vietnam and Thailand increased from US$1 billion in 2000 to US$10.6 billion in 2014. It already hit US$5.4 billion for the first half of this year, alone.

Both nations signed an agreement establishing trade ties in 2013 towards the goal for US$20 billion in two-way trade turnover by 2020.

Impressive figures along with a series of underway cooperative prorgammes demonstrate the economic relations between the two countries are flourishing, Hai concluded.
