Ministry lifts anti-dumping duties on Chinese steel

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Industry and Trade has announced that H-shaped steel imported from China won’t be imposed anti-dumping duties as from August 3, 2017.

Earlier, on October 5, 2016, the Ministry issued a decision on conducting anti-dumping investigations into H-shaped steel imported from China, including Hong Kong.

The decision came after the Ministry’s Vietnam Competition Authority (VCA) received a petition from Posco SS Vina Company Limited saying that H-shaped steel products imported from China and Hong Kong have severely hit domestic steel producers.

On March 21, 2017, the Ministry decided to levy temporary anti-dumping duties on 36.33% of Chinese products. Some companies enjoyed lower anti-dumping duties, like the Heibei Jinxi Iron and Steel Group andHebei Jinxi Section Steel, as low as 29.4%. The same applied to the Rizhao Steel Holding Group and the Rizhao Medium Section Mill.

The duties come into effect between April 5 and August 2, 2017. Thus, as of August 3, the temporary duties will be invalid.

The investigation has entered the final period and is expected to end this August. After that, the Ministry will issue a final decision on whether it will continue to impose the anti-dumping duties or not.
