Switzerland Buhler Group inaugurates plant in Long An
VOV.VN - Switzerland-based Buhler Group on September 29 inaugurated and put into operation a plant to manufacture rice processing equipment and colour sorting machines at Long Hau-Hoa Binh Industrial Park in Thu Thua district, Mekong delta province of Long An.
The plant is built on an area of 15,000sq.m with an investment of US$10 million in the first phase and employs more than 300 workers.
Its products will be sold to small and medium sized rice processors. Around 70% of products will be consumed in Vietnam while the remaining 30% will be exported to other Southeast Asian countries, Mr Hieu said.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Dieter Voegtli, President of Buhler Group in China and Asia Pacific said Buhler now run 28 plants globally, including 10 in Asia.
Buhler considers Vietnam its key market as the country is 4th largest rice exporter in the world. Buhler wants to help Vietnamese rice exporters improve their export value by exporting clean rice meeting international standards, Mr Voegtli said.
Buhler hopes the plant in Vietnam will create a foundation for exporting more products to other ASEAN countries. Up to now, 30% of rice in the world have been processed by its machines and equipment. Buhler plans to double its investment here in the coming time when the market is stable, Mr Voegtli revealed.
So far, 100 businesses from Switzerland have invested in Vietnam with a total capital of US$2.4 billion, ranking 10 among EU investors in Vietnam.
