AkzoNobel expands Performance Coatings business in Vietnam
(VOV) - AkzoNobel Powder Coatings on September 22 unveiled a plan to further invest in its Performance Coatings business in Vietnam.
Accordingly, AkzoNobel will double the capacity of its powder coatings facility in the southern province of Dong Nai. The group will officially inaugurate a new office for Performance Coatings in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to a representative from Akzo Nobel, the new production line in Dong Nai will be operational in November and supported by a 20 percent increase in workforce.
Apart from meeting the demand of local market, the expanded plant will supply customers across South East Asia, India, Australia and New Zealand with its high quality products.
Alan Alex, business manager for AkzoNobel’s Powder Coatings business in South Asia said, “Vietnam has proven to be a strategic market for AkzoNobel in South East Asia and we are strongly committed to expanding our position.” He added, "With focused investment, we aim to sustain our high double-digit growth in the domestic market in Vietnam, as well as Southern Asia overall."
Conrad Keijzer, AkzoNobel’s Executive Committee member responsible for Performance Coatings commented, “Vietnam is strongly emerging as manufacuring base in Asia, which continues to be an attractive growth market. These investments ensure that we are well positioned to meet customer demand going forward."
AkzoNobel is the largest paints and coatings company in Vietnam, with four manufacturing locations producing both decorative paints and performance coatings, and employing more than 800 people.
