Women’s Day market bustling with diverse products at affordable prices
VOV.VN - The gift market in the buildup to International Women’s Day (March 8) in Hanoi has become increasingly hectic in recent days, with Baby Three blind boxes, fresh flowers, and other popular gift items on sale at affordable prices, attracting hordes of customers.
With the special day just two days away, depending on each customer's request, as well as the size and scarcity of the dolls' eyes, the price of blind boxes containing dried flowers and Baby Three dolls ranges from VND1.7 million to more than VND7 million each.
According to a shop owner in Hanoi, 80% of online orders are Baby Three blind boxes which are the new hot trends among customers these days.
This year’s gift market has not fluctuated much compared to last year, with prices only 5% to 10% higher, said the shop owner, adding the products are more diverse with plenty of attractive designs.
Cosmetic items with prices hovering around VND1 million to VND2 million are favourite gifts for women. In addition, the number of shoppers this year has almost quadrupled compared to the same period last year.
Gift boxes including fruit and flowers are sold at VND300,000 to VND800,000 each, providing plenty of choice for shoppers to consider.
Nguyen Xuan Giap, director of Bonjour Mart supermarket chain in Hanoi, said that on average, the number of customers on those days increased by about 10% to 20% compared to normal days, whilst the supermarket is offering a 5% to 10% discount on each item to attract customers.
Over the past few days, the store has received nearly 100 orders for International Women’s Day celebrations, said Giap.
Fresh flowers are also a traditional choice for many customers on International Women's Day.
This year, many vendors said that fresh flowers have been sold at reasonable prices. In Hanoi, a bouquet of roses costs from a few hundred thousand VND to up VND2 million.
In recent years, pots of orchid flowers have been among the favourite items for many people. Customers spend around VND500,000 to VND1.5 million on a pot of orchids, whilst higher-end ones cost up to VND5 million for each pot.
