Webinar explores business opportunities in Gia Lai

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in the Netherlands and the Gia Lai provincial People's Committee recently co-hosted an event titled “Doing Business with Gia Lai: Leveraging on EVFTA and Anticipating EVIPA" to raise awareness of the business potential of the province.

The primary purpose of the function was to introduce the strengths of local businesses whilst also calling for Dutch partners to invest in the locality.

In his opening speech, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands Pham Viet Anh emphasised that the event provided an ideal venue for firms from both Gia Lai and the Netherlands to strengthen connectivity as a contribution to the province and country’s development.

The Vietnamese diplomat went on to express his belief that there are bright prospects ahead for greater co-operation between the two countries thanks to the enforcement of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) in August last year with several tax barriers being removed.

Furthermore, the EU Investment Protection Agreement-Vietnam (EVIPA) is in the process of completing procedures, which will serve to open up a wealth of opportunities for both sides in future.

At the webinar, Ho Phuoc Thanh, vice chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, also highlighted the province’s strengths and preferential policies, while calling on Dutch businesses to invest in establishing hi-tech agriculture zones, producing and processing high quality flowers, fruit and vegetables, as well as specialty agricultural products.

Meanwhile, Dutch partners such as PUM Professionals Association, Agriterra Cooperative Alliance, Dutch Business Association in Vietnam, the Netherlands-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, and De Heus company, also highlighted the province’s potential and strengths.

They therefore expressed hope at the prospect of visiting the locality as international flights resume in the near future.
