WB backs Vietnam’s international integration and development

Head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, Vuong Dinh Hue made the statement while receiving the Senior Director of the World Bank Group Global Practice on Trade and Competitiveness, Anabel Gonzales, and WB Country Director in Vietnam Victoria Kwakwa in Hanoi on March 15.
Vietnam wishes to change its growth models towards inclusive and sustainable development while prioritizing growth quality, national competitiveness and labor output, Hue said.
During talks at the Party Central Committee's office, Hue called for more World Bank support in maximizing gains from free trade deals, sustainable poverty reduction, capital markets and climate change response.
Ms Gonzales in turn pledged World Bank support for Vietnam in its implementation of the Trans Pacific Partnership agreement (TPP) for sustainable growth and achieving the targets set by the 12th National Party Congress.
Both WB officials hailed Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements and development potential, and opportunities during the country’s intensive and extensive regional and international integration, especially when it is getting involved in numerous new-generation FTAs, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement.
They showed their support for the Vietnamese Party and Government policies and determination to deal with challenges, especially in improving the business environment and national competitiveness.
The World Bank and its member organisations will provide effective and assistance for Vietnam’s sustainable development, they said.
