The 600MW extension project was developed by Vietnam Electricity group (EVN) with a total investment capital of VND23.9 trillion (US$1.02 billion). It is a key part of the Vinh Tan Power Complex in Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan.
The project is among the most urgent pieces of investment needed for the country’s power development. It is expected to help ensure energy security throughout the southern region and the country at large, particularly during the dry season when demand for electricity soars.
The extension project, executed by DMPP General Contractor (a partnership between Doosan - Mitsubishi - PECC2 - Pacific), uses conventional steam, thermal power, and super-critical steam to generate power.
The grid connection creates a crucial premise for the project to come into commercial operation prior to October 31 this year.
