Vingroup chairman climbs Forbes rich list as net worth soars

VOV.VN - Vietnamese billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, chairman of conglomerate Vingroup, has significantly advanced in Forbes' latest ranking of the world's wealthiest individuals, released on March 10.

According to Forbes, Vuong now ranks 514th among global billionaires, with an estimated net worth of US$6.6 billion. This marks a remarkable rise from his 712th position just two months ago, when his net worth stood at US$4.1 billion.

The surge in his wealth is largely driven by the sharp increase in Vingroup's (VIC) stock value, which saw a strong rally during the March 7 trading session. Since the post-Tet period, VIC's market price has jumped over 13%, propelling Vingroup’s market capitalization back into the top 10 largest enterprises on Vietnam's stock exchange.

In addition to his holdings in Vingroup, Vuong's fortune is also bolstered by his shares in VinFast (VFS), the electric vehicle arm of Vingroup. VinFast shares are listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange, further contributing to his growing wealth.

According to Companies Market Cap, a platform that tracks and ranks the world's largest companies by market capitalization, VinFast is currently the eighth-largest electric vehicle manufacturer globally, with a market capitalization of nearly US$8 billion.
