VinFast inaugurates electric vehicle factory in Ha Tinh province
VOV.VN - VinFast, Vietnam’s leading electric vehicle maker, inaugurated its electric vehicle manufacturing factory in Ha Tinh province, central Vietnam, on June 29 just under seven months after the project’s groundbreaking.

Covering an area of 360,000 square meters with a designed capacity of 200,000 vehicles per year, the Ha Tinh factory, located in the Vung Ang Economic Zone, is VinFast’s fifth manufacturing facility globally, demonstrating the Vietnamese automaker’s impressive execution speed and solid capabilities.
This facility marks VinFast’s second Vietnam factories in operation, following the one in Hai Phong city, and represents a major milestone in the firm’s international expansion. With construction and equipment installation completed in less than seven months, VinFast Ha Tinh is among the fastest-built auto factories in the world to date.
The factory comprises major functional divisions, including Body Shop, Paint Shop, Assembly Shop, Logistics Warehouse, and a Quality Control Centre. In addition, a supporting industrial complex covering 240,000 square meters is under construction and will be expanded further in the coming years.
Equipped with state-of-the-art production lines and a high level of automation, the facility incorporates advanced technologies from global leaders such as ABB, DÜRR, FANUC, and SIEMENS. All production processes are strictly compliant with international standards including ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System), and IATF 16949 (Automotive Quality Management Standard).
In its initial phase, the factory will focus on producing compact electric vehicles such as the VF 3, Minio Green, EC Van, and several upcoming models. Products manufactured at VinFast Ha Tinh are aimed not only at the domestic market but also for export to international markets.
With a designed output of around 35 vehicles per hour, the factory is expected to create approximately 6,000 direct jobs in the first phase, potentially expanding to 15,000 employees in the future. This will contribute significantly to local employment, social welfare, and economic development. The presence of VinFast is also expected to attract partner enterprises, foster the formation of a synchronised supply chain, and help Vietnam achieve a localised EV production rate of over 80% by 2026.

At the inauguration ceremony, Vo Trong Hai, vice secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and chairman of the Ha Tinh provincial People’s Committee, praised VinFast’s contribution to regional development:
“The inauguration of the VinFast electric vehicle factory today affirms Vingroup’s strategic vision in advancing smart EVs, as well as the maturity of Vietnamese enterprises in the green industrial era and digital transformation. This is not only a feat of speed but also a vivid testament to the spirit of ‘think big – act fast – do it right,’” he said.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Viet Quang, vice chairman and CEO of Vingroup that comprises VinFast, stated that the launch of the VinFast Ha Tinh factory is a crucial milestone in the firm’s long-term global expansion strategy.
“Once operational, it will help us move closer to our target of producing 1 million vehicles annually to meet growing demand domestically and internationally. It showcases our technological mastery, manufacturing autonomy, and pioneering vision in promoting sustainable transportation in Vietnam and beyond.”
In the first five months of 2025, VinFast held the largest market share in Vietnam, with over 56,000 vehicles sold, led by strong sales of the VF 3, VF 5, and VF 6 models. VinFast EVs have also gained popularity in overseas markets such as the Philippines and Indonesia.
Currently, VinFast is developing five manufacturing plants across Vietnam, the US, India, and Indonesia. In Vietnam, both the Hai Phong and Ha Tinh facilities are operational, while those in India and Indonesia are expected to be inaugurated soon to meet the needs of VinFast’s strategic international markets.
