Vietstock 2018 to be biggest livestock industry fair ever

At a press conference to introduce Vietstock on September 5, Nguyen Xuan Duong, acting director of the Department of Livestock Production under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that since it was first organized in 2004, the biennial fair has been constantly developed to meet the increasing demand of domestic and regional industries.

Rose Chitanuwat, a representative of one of the organizers, UBM Asia, said this year’s event is expected to draw about 12,000 domestic and foreign visitors who will seek new products and advanced technologies as well as luring potential customers to improve productivity and expand to new markets.

Vietstock 2018 will not only be an exhibition to showcase products and equipment but will also serve as a forum to connect members and experts in the livestock industry who will propose measures to help farmers overcome difficulties in the current period.

Regional livestock associations will discuss and share experiences and solutions at seminars to develop the livestock industry.

Rose Chitanuwat said Vietnam’s poultry and pig sector is facing many difficulties due to the small scale of production, high prices of animal feed and declining in pork prices. The whole livestock sector has made great efforts to improve the production and distribution process, establish effective supply networks, increase added values of products and seek new export markets. These efforts have largely paid off, especially in the pig production sector which has seen a recent rise in the price of pork.
