Vietship 2018 pulls in numerous foreign businesses
VOV.VN - 97 exhibitors from 13 countries, including 59 domestic and 38 international businesses are participating in the ninth International Exhibition on Shipbuilding, Shipping and Offshore Technology (Vietship 2018), which officially opened at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi on January 24.
In his opening address, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Cong highlighted Vietnam's major advantages to develop the marine-based economy thanks to a long coastline and its location on the world’s important maritime axis.
Shipbuilding is regarded as an important part of the maritime economy and has offered favourable conditions for local and foreign investors in this field, he said.
This year's exhibition showcases products in the fields of shipbuilding, ship repair and maintenance technology, materials and equipment for shipbuilding, equipment and facility for shipyard, offshore engineering and facilities, waterway transportation and services, marine supply logistics, port technology and equipment, design, insurance and more.
Acting General Director of the Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC) Cao Thanh Dong said the exhibition, the country’s biggest event of its kind, has stepped up cooperation, investment and technology exchanges since it was first held in 2002.
The conference “Shipping and Shipbuilding Market in Vietnam – Challenges and Opportunities” and a contract signing ceremony are due to transpire as part of the event.
