Vietnamese Week in Thailand 2023 opens in Bangkok

More than 100 Vietnamese businesses are showcasing their products at the event to seek business and investment connectivity opportunities.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce of Thailand Jurin Laksanawisit noted Thailand is currently Vietnam’s largest trading partner in ASEAN, while Vietnam is Thailand’s fifth most important trading partner and second largest in ASEAN.

Last year saw bilateral trade turnover hit US$21 billion, and the two sides aim to raise the figure to at least US$25 billion by 2025.

The organisation of the Vietnamese Week in Thailand 2023 is a good opportunity to strengthen trade, investment and tourism cooperation between the two countries, stressed Laksanawisit.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai shared that in recent years, the Vietnamese Government has created favourable conditions for businesses to promote exports to distribution systems in countries including Thailand.

Since its first edition in 2016, the Vietnamese Week in Thailand event organized by Central Retail Group has fuelled bilateral trade growth through connecting hundreds of small and medium enterprises to popularize local products in the Thai market, said Hai.

This year marks the first time the Vietnamese Week in Thailand has introduced typical products from the Mekong Delta provinces and Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam, such as coffee, cashew nuts, salangane bird’s nests, crispy desiccated coconut, coconut candy, coconut jelly, fish sauce, organic rice, along with One Commune One Product (OCOP) products of other Vietnamese localities.
