Vietnamese steel pipes do not evade US’ anti-dumping duties
VOV.VN - The US Department of Commerce (DoC) has concluded that certain circular welded carbon steel pipes and circular welded non-alloy steel pipe which are imported from Vietnam do not evade anti-dumping and countervailing duties that the US is currently applying to similar products from Taiwan (China).
According to information outlined in the DOC’s conclusion, the country does not use hot-rolled steel (HRS) originating from Taiwan (China), process them into steel pipes, and then export them to the US in an effort to avoid the US’ trade remedies.
With regard to other steel pipe products which are subject to anti-trade remedy tax evasion investigation, the DOC decided to extend the deadline for issuing its final conclusion until November 2.
This comes after April 6 when the DOC issued a preliminary conclusion of the incident, stating that Vietnamese firms was evading anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties that the US was applying to China, Taiwan (China), the Republic of Korea, and India.
However, the DOC has permitted Vietnamese exporters to participate in the self-certification mechanism that they do not to use hot rolled steel (HRS) materials originating from China, Taiwan (China), the Republic of Korea, and India to be eligible for exemption from the anti-dumping measures.
