Vietnamese seedless lime dominates Gulf market
VOV.VN - A range of local agricultural products, particularly seedless lemon, have recently secured a firm foothold in several Gulf states.
Venkat Addala, a representative of Fuchsiana General Trading LLC in Dubai, revealed that Vietnamese limes have almost no competitors in the Gulf market, and businesses in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) are currently focusing on importing the citrus fruit from Vietnam.
Mohammed Naimath, director of Zin Food Company, pointed out that Vietnamese limes are hugely popular among Gulf consumers due to their outstanding taste compared to those from other countries.
“We are importing Vietnamese limes for re-export to other Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain or Qatar,” he added.
Kamal Vachani, director of Al Maya Group, a leading retail group in Dubai, said it has also imported a number of Vietnamese agricultural products, including rice and seedless limes. Following initial success importing local goods, the group is now in the process of expanding to import coconuts, guava, and mangoes from the Vietnamese market.
