Vietnamese rice enjoy strong sells to EU market
VOV.VN - There remains bright prospects ahead for Vietnamese rice exports in the EU amid European partners continuing to place orders of up to 400,000 tonnes of rice from local exporters.
As of October this year, Loc Troi Group has received export orders of up to 400,000 tonnes of rice to the demanding market for 2023.
Nguyen Duy Thuan, general director of Loc Troi Group, revealed that following the enforcement of the Vietnam – EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the group has been selected to export the first batch of rice to the EU market. At present, the company has exported roughly 30,000 tonnes of rice to the fastidious market.
September saw the first batch of 500 tonnes of rice bearing the brand name Com VietNam Rice hit the shelves of major retail supermarket chains across France. Over the following month, French customers imported an additional 500 tonnes and consumed 1,000 tonnes of Vietnamese rice.
As well as penetrating a number of supermarkets based in France such as Leclerc, Carrefour Com VietNam Rice has also reached the German and Dutch markets.
Thuan revealed that in a bid to ensure quality and sustainability in the rice production chain, Loc Troi group is anticipated to fulfil export orders with EU partners in the second quarter of 2023.
Furthermore, Loc Troi also signed a credit syndication package worth US$100 million with seven banks within three years as part of efforts to ensure investment capital in high-quality rice production for export moving forward.
