Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports to Singapore subject to e-Service check

VOV.VN - Vietnamese exporters of fresh/chilled fruits and vegetables to Singapore are advised to proactively connect and cooperate with their partners to promptly obtain laboratory test results via the electronic service platform (e-Service).

According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has launched the e-Service platform, which facilitates the publication and retrieval of laboratory test results for imported fresh and chilled fruits and vegetables.

The e-Service platform is designed for all Singaporean importers wishing to access laboratory test results conducted by Singapore Customs on shipments of imported fresh and chilled produce. The system is scheduled to come into operation on May 1, 2025.

Singaporean importers will have a three-month transition period (from May 1 to July 31, 2025) to prepare the necessary conditions for joining the platform. During this time, all laboratory test results will continue to be communicated to importers via traditional methods such as phone calls and text messages.

From August 1, 2025 (after the transition period), only failed test results and/or related disposal procedures will continue to be notified via phone. All satisfactory test results will be made available solely on the e-Service platform. The SFA noted that the e-Service system has been developed for access by Singaporean importers using Singpass and Corppass. Currently, the system only allows Singaporean businesses to view their own results and does not permit access to other accounts’ data.

Foreign exporters, including Vietnamese businesses seeking to obtain test results must do so through their Singapore-based importing partners, the direct recipients of the shipments. Singaporean importers are instructed to access the official SFA website at: https://www.sfa.gov.sg.

The Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore sees SFA’s instructions for using the e-Service platform as a positive move, encouraging Singaporean enterprises in general and importers in particular to increase their use of digital platforms and applications provided by relevant agencies.

The Trade Office also recommends that Vietnamese exporters of fresh and chilled fruits and vegetables to Singapore stay informed of the new regulations and proactively coordinate with their Singaporean partners to keep track of laboratory test results for shipments. Exporters should also be prepared to respond swiftly  if any issues arise.
