Singapore opens its market to poultry meat and eggs from Vietnam
VOV.VN - Singapore has officially granted approval for the import of selected poultry meat and egg products from Vietnam, creating promising opportunities for the country's livestock industry.

Trade Counselor Cao Xuan Thang noted that this move is seen as a key milestone in the agricultural trade ties between Vietnam and the island city state.
It also demonstrates the commitment between the two nations to promote trade in animal-based food products, following the visits of Party General Secretary To Lam to Singapore and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to Vietnam in March.
The approved products include heat-processed poultry meat from CPV Food Co. Ltd and MeatDeli HN Co. Ltd, as well as canned and sterilized poultry eggs and meat (excluding beef). These companies have successfully met the stringent standards set by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), covering food safety, traceability, and operational protocols.
With Singapore importing over 90% of its food, the value of poultry meat and egg imports in 2024 was SGD 3.87 billion. Given the country's rigorous animal and plant health standards, the first three shipments from Vietnam will undergo laboratory testing before being distributed to the local market.
The SFA also announced that Vietnam must follow a prelisting procedure if it wishes to expand the list of companies eligible to export canned and sterilized poultry products to Singapore.
Vietnamese businesses are encouraged to continue investing in technology, ensuring strict compliance with food safety standards, and stepping up trade promotion efforts to build and maintain their reputation in the Singapore market while also exploring other potential markets.
