Vietnamese firms showcase products at FOODEX Japan 2026

VOV.VN - Vietnamese companies are showcasing a wide range of food and agricultural products at FOODEX Japan 2026, which opened on March 10 in Tokyo, aiming to promote Vietnamese produce and expand market opportunities in Japan.

The annual event is one of Asia’s largest and most prestigious trade fairs in the food and beverage industry, attracting businesses, importers and major distribution networks from around the world.

FOODEX Japan 2026 brings together companies from 74 countries and territories, with 3,738 exhibition booths and an expected attendance of more than 72,000 visitors involved in trade and business networking.

The Vietnam Pavilion spans 204 square metres and features 26 enterprises introducing a variety of products with strong export potential to Japan. These include fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, canned foods, rice and rice-based products, cashew nuts, pepper, cinnamon, star anise, spices, confectionery, dairy products, beverages and other distinctive agricultural products.

Under the theme “Foods of Vietnam”, the pavilion has been designed with a modern layout that incorporates elements of Vietnamese culture. In addition to product displays, on-site tasting sessions are being organised to allow visitors to experience the flavour and quality of Vietnamese food products firsthand.

Hoang Van Du, head of the Vietnamese delegation to the fair, said Vietnamese agricultural enterprises attending the event were delivering a strong message about the country’s agricultural sector.

“Vietnamese agricultural producers participating in FOODEX Japan 2026 are sending a clear message about a green, high-quality and responsible agricultural industry that meets the expectations of global consumers,” he said.

On the first day of the exhibition, the Vietnam Pavilion attracted significant attention from Japanese businesses and international participants.

After visiting the Vietnamese booths, Hashimoto Akinori, president of the Hashimoto Company, expressed interest in Vietnamese mushroom products.

“I notice some differences between mushrooms produced in Japan and those from Vietnam. Vietnamese mushrooms are of very high quality. We are focusing on this sector, and Vietnamese mushrooms will soon appear more frequently on Japanese dining tables,” he said.

In addition to the national pavilion, the Vietnam Trade Office in Japan and the Vietnamese Business Association in Japan (VJBA) have organised the Vietnam Embassy Pavilion at the exhibition.

The pavilion covers around 135 square metres and includes 15 booths designed to promote Vietnam’s national image and food brands in the Japanese market.

Through display activities, product promotion and business networking at FOODEX Japan 2026, Vietnamese companies hope to expand their market presence, strengthen cooperation with Japanese partners and boost exports of agricultural and food products in the coming years.
