VOV.VN - The 12th Africa Forum for Investment & Commerce (AFIC 12) opened in Algiers, the capital of Algeria, on May 9, drawing around 2,000 participants, including officials, economists, businesses, financial and development organizagtions from 43 African countries and international partners, including Vietnam.
The forum is jointly organised by the Arab-African Center for Investment and Development (CAAID), the African Union (AU), the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) under the theme “Together, We Open Markets.”
According to organisers, multiple cooperation agreements in investment, trade and economic development are expected to be signed during the two-day event. The forum aims to support productive investment activities, promote intra-African trade and facilitate market access in line with emerging economic trends across the continent.
The event also serves as a platform for entrepreneurs, investors, representatives of economic and financial institutions, chambers of commerce and industry, and regional and international organisations to exchange experience, build connections, explore cooperation opportunities and promote shared economic growth.
AFIC 12 also seeks to enhance sustainable economic partnerships and strengthen coordination in implementing the goals of the AU’s Agenda 2063, in which economic integration is identified as one of the continent’s most important strategic priorities.
On the sidelines of the forum, organisers arranged an exhibition area featuring major companies and signature products from African countries and international partners.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese Embassy and Trade Office in Algeria opened a booth introducing Vietnam’s key agricultural exports, including coffee, tea and spices such as pepper, turmeric, cinnamon and star anise, along with desiccated coconut, milk, canned fruit juice and plastic pellets.
Many visitors had an opportunity to try Vietnamese coffee and expressed strong interest in the product.
