Vietnamese exports to China not subject to COVID-19 testing from January 8

VOV.VN - China is set to remove all nucleic acid testing measures in relation to COVID-19 prevention at border gates for imported commodities, including frozen goods, as of January 8, 2023, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).

This information has been updated by the Asia-Africa Market Department with the aim of helping Vietnamese export businesses to fully grasp the latest policies and regulations relating to the northern neighbour’s import-export activities.

Vietnamese agricultural production areas that specialise in exporting products to the Chinese market are therefore required to actively update information regarding the customs clearance procedures via border gates and closely co-operate with northern provinces as part of efforts to control the flow of goods through the area, the Asia-Africa Market Department noted.

After nearly two years of pursuing a zero-COVID policy and tightening import procedures, China has gradually removed regulations on import and export activities through border gates.

The Chinese Government will also move to reopen its border and completely abolish the isolation measures that were in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic as of January 8, 2023.

The decision taken by Beijing is their last step in lifting the zero-COVID policy that has been applied by China over the past three years.
