Vietnamese canned sugarcane juice hits shelves in US
VOV.VN - The first batches of Vietnamese canned sugarcane juice, namely Kanpe Red, have recently hit the shelves of convenience stores and supermarkets in the coastal city of Miami in Florida of the US.
All of the products are printed with the Vietnamese national flag and are being officially distributed by Henri R. Chaumin, a Haitian-born businessman.
Kanpe Red is a canned sugarcane juice drink produced by Lam Son Sugar Cane Joint Stock Corporation (Lasuco) which has had its quality certified by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Although it was only introduced to the US market earlier this year, Kanpe Red sugarcane juice drinks have proved popular among local consumers.
According to Chaumin, chairman of Mega 4's Bottling Company, Vietnamese products use 99% pure sugarcane with only 1% of kumquat flavor, whilst they also have a storage time of up to one year.
He went on to reveal that the current competitor to Lasuco's sugarcane juice products in the US is Goya, whose pure sugarcane ingredients account for only 32%, with the remaining 67% being added water and sugar.
He stated his plans to sell the products in areas inhabited by many Latin Americans, who reside in coastal areas.
After Miami, he will gradually distribute Kanpe Red sugarcane juice drink to all 52 states around the US.
He expressed his hope that Kanpe Red’s "Made in Vietnam" cane juice drinks will be widely sold in the US, noting that Lasuco Group's products will soon affirm its Vietnamese brand in the US market.
According to Do Ngoc Hung, Vietnamese Trade Counselor in the US, sugarcane products have bright export prospects ahead in the US market as they are not on the list of items that must be inspected due to pest risk. Therefore, these products can be exported to the US market at any time, he added.
