Vietnamese Business Awards in Canada promote connection and integration

VOV.VN - The Vietnam- Canada Business Association (VCBA) recently held the “Vietnamese Business Awards in Canada 2026,” marking the first time an award dedicated to honouring outstanding Vietnamese entrepreneurs and enterprises in Canada has been organised.

The awards gala took place in Vancouver, with nearly 200 guests, including delegates, community leaders, entrepreneurs and guests from various localities across Canada.

The event acknowledged notable achievements of the Vietnamese business community and reflected the growing presence of Vietnamese people in economic and social life in Vancouver and other cities across Canada.

VCBA Chairman Ken Chau said the awards are not simply an event but an effort to connect the community and spread the spirit of perseverance, resilience and innovation among Vietnamese entrepreneurs in Canada. He said these values help strengthen community bonds and affirm pride in identity and achievements built by Vietnamese people.

This year’s programme included five award categories, following a nomination and voting process conducted widely within the community. From 60 finalists, 36 awards were presented at the gala. The titles were decided through community voting, creating a distinct feature of the awards and reflecting direct public recognition of individuals, entrepreneurs and enterprises with practical contributions to the community and society.

From an activity honouring businesses, the event also creates a broader space for connection within the Vietnamese community in Canada. It helps encourage entrepreneurship, promote business development, increase opportunities for trade and investment cooperation, and inspire younger generations of Vietnamese to continue their integration journey and affirm themselves in their host country.

The success of Vietnamese businesses is measured through business performance and through a spirit of sharing, family bonds, community responsibility and efforts to preserve cultural identity in Canada’s multicultural environment.

Ms. Teresa Wat said what stayed with her after visiting Vietnam to promote trade between British Columbia and Vietnam was the entrepreneurial spirit, creativity, diligence, forward-looking mindset and the strong foundation of family and community among Vietnamese people. She said this spirit is clearly present and continues to develop within the Vietnamese community in Canada, and the gala reflects this vividly.

Meanwhile, Richmond City Councillor Alexa Loo said the organisation of the first annual awards carries special meaning as it recognises excellence, creates motivation for continued efforts and helps younger Vietnamese see role models within their own families and community.

From a community perspective, Lieutenant-Colonel Anh Foort said the event honours business success and also honours people, families and the values behind that success. She said it is an occasion to look back on the journey of the Vietnamese community, built through hard work, sacrifice and belief in a better future.

Award recipients said the programme created a positive and inspiring atmosphere and affirmed the strength of connection within the Vietnamese community. It is also an occasion for the contributions of individuals and enterprises to be recognised more fully.

Established to connect and promote cooperation between Vietnamese and Canadian business communities, VCBA has carried out various community-oriented activities in recent years, including charity programmes, fundraising, annual golf tournaments, monthly business talk shows and Vietnamese language clubs. The successful organisation of the awards extends these efforts and affirms VCBA’s role as a bridge in promoting trade and spreading cultural values within the Vietnamese community in Canada.

The Vietnamese community in Canada is increasingly present across multiple fields such as services, real estate, cuisine, retail, healthcare, finance and community activities. These contributions create jobs, support local economic development and enrich the cultural and social life of multicultural cities such as Vancouver and Toronto.

The success of Vietnamese entrepreneurs and enterprises in Canada also shows the community’s deeper integration into the host society. With dynamism, adaptability and a strong sense of cultural roots, the Vietnamese community is gradually affirming its role as an active part of Canada’s multicultural landscape and as a bridge for cooperation between Vietnam and Canada.
