Vietnamese and Cambodian businesses told to strengthen connectivity
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called on Vietnamese and Cambodian businesses to further co-operate in investment and trade whilst enhancing connectivity, thus helping to consolidate the time-honoured friendship between the two peoples.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made the statement at the Vietnam - Cambodia Trade and Investment Promotion Forum held on December 12 in Hanoi.
The PM emphasized that strengthened collaboration will contribute to building an independent and self-reliant economy in association with extensive international integration, as well as developing strong and prosperous countries.
He has also requested that businesses of the two countries speed up the implementation of investment projects, strictly comply with the law, and promote social responsibility alongside environment protection, and effectively carry out social security policies.
Vietnam has always created the optimal conditions for effective and smooth co-operation among businesses, while further fine-tuning institutions and governance policies in a bid to facilitate their operations.
For his part, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet revealed that Vietnamese enterprises are operating well in Cambodia, making a positive contribution to Cambodia's socio-economic development, adding that the achieved results however, are still below their full potential.
He stressed that the application of the national "plus" strategy by some large investors is expected to help the two countries complement each other perfectly in connecting the supply and production chains of each.
PM Manet mentioned a "win-win" scenario as both nations can link supply chains to take the full advantage of the current economic situation and seize upon opportunities from the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
He therefore encouraged Vietnamese investors to inject more capital in Cambodia, especially in areas such as modern agriculture, food processing industry, automobile, electronics, and digital technology.
At the forum, the two PMs witnessed the awarding ceremony of investment certificates, and the signing of memorandums of understanding (MoUs), including one related to the launch of direct flight Hanoi - Siem Reap from December 15.
Moreover, there is an MoU on credit provision among Military Bank in Cambodia, KNN Company, and Mekong Land Development Company.
There are also a MoU on import and export of goods between CT Group and Angkor Sok Sen Chey Company and a MoU between Hung Hau Agriculture Joint Stock Company and Rithy Granite Company of Cambodia for deep processing of cashew nuts and mangoes in the neighbouring nation.
